SBY begins reshuffle selection process

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has begun the selection process to support a Cabinet reshuffle plan, following an internal dispute between members of the government party coalition, a Democratic Party official said on Wednesday.

Democratic Party strategy and policy center chief Ulil Abshar Abdallah declined to comment on who would be dismissed and who would be retained, but said there would be changes in the number of Cabinet ministers representing each coalition party.

“It may not be a major reshuffle, but obviously quite a lot of ministers in Cabinet will be replaced, although I cannot be sure yet who they will be,” Ulil said in Semarang, as quoted by Antara.

The Golkar Party will undoubtedly remain in the coalition, while the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) may stay, but with a reduced number of representatives in Cabinet, he said.

Golkar and the PKS were recently at loggerheads with Yudhoyono's Democratic Party over a legislative tax inquiry proposal.
